The Perfect Man

When Perfect Men appeared on earth to achieve closer control of evolutionary trends, certain ordinary men were initiated by them: that is, ordinary men were given access to a technique whereby their minds could become able to process conscious energy and hence to achieve contact with the Absolute’s intention.

( Ernest Scott )

The Cosmos is arranged according to a universal design that is based upon the principle of hierarchy. This hierarchy is often compared to the patterns observed among plants, animals, and heavenly bodies. For example, the rose to the flowers bears the same relation as the oak to the trees, or the honeybee to the insects, or the eagle to the birds, or the lion to the beasts, or the Sun to other heavenly bodies. The Perfect Men, however, are just as much a separate species among the various kinds of men, as man is a separate species within other forms of organic life. Ordinary man is superior to animals; so too the Perfect Man is superior to other men by virtue of the refinement of his mind.

Long before the actual creation of humanity, the Absolute created an impression of the Perfect Man. The Perfect Man must experience the state of the original triplicity. This impression was endowed with that experience; this experience is the normative cognition of the Perfect Man. The impression of the Perfect Man was conceived within the world of ideas, in close proximity to the Absolute. This impression was the very first idea that appeared after the Absolute had expressed the wish “to be known.” After its appearance in the world of ideas, the impression of the Perfect Man was projected onto the world of symbols. It is this projection onto the world of symbols that is recorded in the second Chapter of Genesis .

It is important to notice that Genesis describes two different sequences of the creation of man. The first Chapter of Genesis describes the sequence of the creation of ordinary man within the physical world, i.e., the sequence which corresponds to that developed by science. This is the first part of the ascending loop of creation. It concerns the creation of the physical world. It starts with the Big Bang and follows with the creation of the stars, the Sun, the Earth, the mineral world, the Moon, the vegetal world, the animal word, and it finishes with the appearance of mankind. As far as the degree of sophistication of the created forms is concerned, it is an ascending sequence; it starts with elementary particles and ends-up with man.

The description given in the second Chapter of Genesis , however, refers to an earlier stage of the process. Namely, it describes a prior phase, i.e., the descending part of the process that took place before the creation of the physical world. This is why the sequence of events described in the second Chapter runs in reverse order with respect to that described in the first Chapter of Genesis . This reverse sequence applies to the events taking place in the Macrocosm prior to the creation of the Universe.
